Features of this spectacular tour are the tulip fields of Keukenhof, The Flower Market and museums in Amsterdam, the Flower Auction at Aalsmeer & the gardens at Het Loo - the “Versailles of Holland”!
Wednesday, Day 1 - Welcome Dinner
On arrival at Amsterdam’s fantastic Schiphol Airport, we will make our way into the city center and check into our hotel. With plenty of time to refresh ourselves, we can then take in the atmosphere at the “Dam”, enjoy typical Dutch fare in one of its cafes and stroll through Amsterdam’s 700 year old historic center with its narrow buildings and canals, before meeting up for our Welcome Dinner in the evening.
Thursday, Day 2
After breakfast we will start our day with a leisurely informative guided cruise through Amsterdam’s canals. You can then independently continue your discovery of this lovely city with its rich cultural offerings by visiting some of its museums, flower markets or famous districts all with their own interesting offerings.
Friday, Day 3
Today is going to be a feast for the eyes! We start with a visit to the largest flower auction in the world – the Aalsmeer Flower Auction is the largest building by footprint in the world and a third of all the world’s tulips and flowers are traded here each day. We will then make our way to the Keukenhof Gardens, the home of Holland’s annual tulip festival, where we will spend the rest of the day enjoying the enormous variety of flowers and colors that make this garden a must see destination for the serious garden lover. If time allows, we will make our way back to Amsterdam along the Polder Tulip Trail.
Saturday, Day 4
Tonight we will stay in the Dutch region of Gelderland after travelling through the lovely Dutch countryside with its canals, dikes and windmills. Our first stop will be at “de Thee Tuin” – Jacqueline van der Kloet’s private garden. A well know international designer who is known for her naturalistic and painterly style of perennial and bulb planting together with flowering trees and shrubs. This afternoon we will enjoy another private tour at Het Loo – the Baroque palace and garden built in 1684 for William and Mary. We will have dinner together at our hotel.
Sunday, Day 5
We have another great day planned for Sunday – first a visit to the Kroller Muller Museum, which houses the world’s second largest collection of Van Gogh’s paintings. In the sculpture garden, one of the largest in Europe, you can enjoy both sculptures and nature. Distributed throughout the garden are over 160 sculptures by iconic artists like Aristide Maillol and Jean Dubuffet. This afternoon we will first drop in on Ruben’s Renaissance House and garden in Antwerp for a private tour before continuing onto our destination – Bruges – a World Heritage Site and beautifully preserved medieval city, distinguished by its canals, cobbled streets and buildings. This evening we will enjoy another
dinner together.
Monday, Day 6
Today our adventure with a private guided chocolate walking tour of Bruges in the morning. The afternoon can be spent independently exploring further, shopping (diamonds, more chocolate and lace anybody? – lacemaking here dates back centuries), visiting the diamond museum, or taking an evening canal cruise. These are some of the fun things this beautiful city has to offer.
Tuesday, Day 7
This morning we will depart enchanting Bruges and travel back to Holland viewing more tulip field and windmills along the way.
The afternoon is free for you to visit magnificent museums of Amsterdam. We will have a group farewell dinner tonight!
Wednesday, Day 8
Our tour ends this morning after breakfast. We will be happy to assist you in your further journeys in Europe or back to Schiphol Airport for your return home.
